We are huge fans of London based fashion and interior blog The Frugality, started by freelance fashion stylist Alex Stedman. Alex and her husband are currently renovating the study in their new North London home, so we asked for a few tips to consider before a renovation.

Where do you look for inspiration when renovating?

This is our first renovation, so we’re really learning as we go. I love browsing Pinterest, interiors magazines and I also get a lot of inspiration from boutique hotels and cool restaurants.

What colours and textures do you really like at the moment?

I am loving dark walls, with textured rugs and bare floorboards. Hints of brass and matt black, but also the lovely, flaming soft pinks around.

What lighting scheme have you got planned for your study?

Ideally we would love a pendant light and then use lamps or wall lights for our desk space.

What colour schemes make the perfect working environment?

I don’t think I know the answer to that, but we’re going for a rich navy in our study. For my husband, the room needs to be quite dark and the possibility of blackout blinds (he edits on a computer quite a lot). And for myself, I need more light, so big windows are essential – it’s all a compromise!

How would you use Buster + Punch products in your renovation?

I love how the Buster and Punch handles can completely transform an existing, High Street cabinet. We are thinking of having wall to ceiling cupboards across an entire wall to store my kitbag (I’m a stylist) and my husband’s equipment (he’s a videographer), so I would use the furniture knobs in brass. Also, the matt black plug sockets and USB chargers will be essential.

How has living in London influenced your interiors style?

I am always interested in how people design around small spaces – London living can be cramped! I am also constant on the hunt for chic storage ideas – I’m a minimalist at heart but have a lot of ‘stuff’!
