MARITIME MODERN
Southern California based designer Raili Clasen of RailiCA Design is known for her coastal-chic design style. Her projects often blur the lines between West Coast casual and elegant modernity. One such project is this 1927 Dutch Colonial Farmhouse located in Coronado, California and recently featured in Domino’s Spring 2020 issue.
For the house’s design, Raili expressed that she wanted to keep the maritime roots intact to align with the home’s location in the San Diego Bay. “The island was established in the 1930s, so we kept the design rooted in the farmhouse vibe, yet adding twists along the way with some fun new ideas,” she said.
The bold kitchen is perfectly cohesive with the rest of the house’s eclectic, nautical design. Raili’s renovation advice: “As we all know, [the kitchen is] the hardest working room in the house. I always love to start the design process in the kitchen to set the stage for whatever design direction we are going.”
