Interior Trends for 2025

Trend forecasting season is upon us. We’ve scoured our favourite sites, sources and robots to get a little insight into the colours, forms and influences shaping our surroundings this year.

Soft is Less

Nature has no straight lines, and we continue to find new ways to mimic its inviting curves into our interiors. Natural materials have a calming effect on our psyche, and there’s a sense of fun to be explored with things like chunky rounded pieces of furniture and storage. Architecturally, arches and flowing forms are popping up in new spaces like kitchens and bedrooms, and can be taken in a more modern direction when applied with crisper, more angular finishing. If we were to embrace the softness in 2025, Linear would be our look of choice.

Materials: Bent chrome, heavy stone, custom wave woods and composites.

Maxi Mousse

Pantone’s projected colour for 2025 is Mocha Mousse, a creamy little number it says is “a warming, brown hue imbued with richness.’ Like Soft is Less, it’s a comforting trend that responds to the global conditions affecting us. Taken on face value, it’s a trend that’s great in an interior setting, with a classic visual appeal that’s going to be easy to live with. With that in mind, we’d team it with Buster + Punch’s Smoked Bronze finish, and watch that patina emerge over time.

Materials: Rough plasters, matt surfaces, ribs of smoked bronze or steel

Re-Retro

A fusion of old sensibilities reinterpreted by young minds as the new generations begin to rediscover the roots and legacies of classic design. This isn’t about rose-tinted nostalgia but a desire to reconnect with the past and understand what makes specific forms and design languages universally loved. Expect to say, “That reminds me of a…” and prepare for a new burst of future classics from youngsters that are more than happy to mess with a classic. Expect new functional additions to these designs, like tactical pockets for example. Which B+P finish would we run? Black or steel feel like a good place to start.

The New Brute

Brutalism and industrial references could be seen as omnipresent in the forecasts over the years. Hardly a problem, especially when homes and spaces are concerned, because the results are always compelling. In terms of how this plays out this time, Industrial 2.0 adds machine learning to the mix, with new blends of surface treatments exploring scale and proportion. Large-scale metal extrusions with channelled brushed surfaces, for example. Or 3D printed metals and composite materials, bonded rather than welded. The chunky lines of our Cast look are the perfect fit for The New Brute.
